I spoke to Phil Morgan at Newcastle Uni who said that FMS are included as a part of the 2nd and 3rd year compulsory courses. All students have a lecture and tutorial focusing on the rationale for, and teaching of, these skills and review the Get Skilled, Get Active Resource. There is also an elective available for 2nd and 3rd year students - 'Primary Kinetics 1' - which focuses on skills and sports. About 1/3 of students take this elective. So when they graduate there could be a fair amount of variation in students' experience with FMS depending on their experience on practicum and whether or not they completed the elective.
