The maps illustrate the location of Hunter New England Health Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
as defined by the Australian Bureau of Statistics

Note: For The Australian Bureau of Census purposes, an Indigenous region is approximated by aggregating the Collection Districts (CDs), which lie mostly or completely within the Indigenous Region. The 36 ABS derived Indigenous Regions cover in aggregate, the whole of Australia without gaps or overlaps. Indigenous Areas (IAREs) are aggregates of CDs which represent a population of at least around 300 Indigenous persons grouped on the basis of language or culture. Indigenous areas aggregate to Indigenous Regions. Indigenous Locations (ILOCs) are single CDs or aggregates of CDs which have a population of at least 80 Indigenous persons. ILOCs aggregate to Indigenous Areas

It is therefore possible for these organisations to publish data that they have not yet made available to Hunter New England Population Health for analysis and release. Users should therefore check the publications of these organisations as it is possible that they may have published even more up to date information on Hunter New England than those available in this resource. As this resource is an ongoing project, the indicators presented will be updated as soon as possible after the release of all datasets to Hunter New England Population Health.
